The monthly charge is $49.95 for up to 512K download. Higher speeds are
available at higher rates.

How
fast is this service? How does it compare to cable modems and DSL? Does
it have the capability to be faster?
WildBlue's always-on broadband Internet connection provides speeds that
are comparable to DSL service. We offer
downstream speeds up to 1.5 Mbps - more than 25 times faster than
today's 56k dial-up speeds and upstream speeds of up to 256K that exceed
most current satellite broadband providers.

When
and where will the service be available?
WildBlue service began in 2005. WildBlue
has launched two satellites and both are nearing capacity.
We
normally offer WildBlue Internet service to anyone within 50 miles of our HQ
building in Linden Indiana.

Will
WildBlue require a separate account with an Internet Service Provider
(ISP)?
No, the WildBlue service includes all key ISP features like e-mail,
web hosting, etc. If customers prefer, they can continue to use their
current ISP for email and use the WildBlue service for broadband Internet
access.

What
will the installation process be like? Can I install my own dish?
WildBlue certified professional installation specialists will quickly
and efficiently install equipment and activate WildBlue's broadband
service. The satellite mini-dish is about 26 inches x 29 inches and
would normally be mounted on a roof or an outside wall which has a
clear view of the Southern sky. A coax cable from the dish
will connect to a satellite modem (a small box placed next to the PC),
which will connect to your PC via an Ethernet (Cat5) cable. Installation requires
a
trained and certified installation professional to make sure that the
dish is pointed at the satellite accurately and all connections are
made properly. Self-installation is not offered
because it requires a WildBlue certified installer. The dish must be
mounted at least 8 feet above ground level.

Do
customers have to have a phone line in addition to the satellite connection?
No. This is a 2-way wireless, high-speed Internet service that requires
no phone line connection.
Top of Page
How
will you differentiate your services?
WildBlue’s key value is in offering broadband Internet service to
almost any home and small office across America. Terrestrial service providers
(DSL and cable modem providers) are often limited in their geographic
reach, not able to provide broadband to customers in harder-to-reach
areas – an available audience for WildBlue’s services.
Top of Page
What
customers do you expect to buy your service?
WildBlue will be available to customers that are within sight of one
two satellites within the continental U.S. (within each spot beam’s
footprint). One of WildBlue's largest customer segments is expected
to be individuals who want broadband access for either their home or
office and do not have high-speed Internet access available from DSL
or cable modem providers at present.

When
do you plan to launch your satellites?
The first satellite was launched in July 2004, which was built by Boeing.
The second satellite,
WildBlue-1, was launched in December 2006.

How
many customers can you service with your current satellite licenses
and plans?
WildBlue will be able to service several million customers.
Top of Page
If someone has DBS satellite TV, will they
need to have 2 dishes on their roof?
Initially
WildBlue had planed to provide customers with a "one dish solution"
for their video and high-speed Internet. However, WildBlue was
unable to meet this expectation. Therefore, it will require two dishes.

Why
is two-way wireless communication important to consumers?
WildBlue's wireless service provides high-speed data in both directions,
upstream and downstream. WildBlue's two-way capability means customers
do not need an additional phone or cable line or the expense of a traditional
dial-up ISP in order to receive broadband Internet access.

Will
WildBlue work with Macintosh computers?
Yes. The WildBlue service is compatible with Macintosh computers. MAC
OS 9 or higher.

Can
I get WildBlue service in a mobile vehicle like an RV or truck?
No. WildBlue service is designed for stationary locations like homes
and businesses. We do not offer broadband service for mobile vehicles.
Top of Page
Will
I be able to use a virtual private network (VPN) with WildBlue?
No. VPN's will not work reliably over the WildBlue network. However, there are
a few folks who have made it work for them. However, it is not supported by WildBlue
tech support.

Will
you limit heavy bandwidth users?
Since WildBlue is a shared network, we will have a Fair Use Policy to
ensure that extraordinary usage by a few customers doesn't negatively
affect the normal usage of other customers. For the vast majority of
users, the Fair Use Policy will have no effect on their usage. For a
few very heavy bandwidth users, the system may restrict their bandwidth. WildBlue's Fair Use Policy will be well documented and communicated
to our users before they become customers. We plan to offer multiple
service levels that should accommodate most users' requirements.
Commercial Service will also be available. Please see FAP (Fair Access
Policy)

Do
I need a southern line of sight to receive a signal from your satellite?
Yes. You will need a clear view of the southern sky to receive a signal from
the WildBlue satellite.
Top of Page
What
is the impact of latency? Can I play real-time Internet games or make
Internet phone calls on your service?
The WildBlue system is engineered to help offset the impact of latency.
However, there is a delay of about a quarter second as the signal travels
up to the satellite and back down to the ground. For most Internet applications
this latency does not affect performance, however, there are some applications
like voice over IP, or real-time interactive gaming, where latency will
have a noticeable effect on performance over the WildBlue network.
