Air Source Heat Pumps

 

Tipmont REMC offers rebates for the installation of new or replacement air source heat pumps.

 

$70 ton for a 13 SEER rated system

$85 ton for a 14 SEER rated system

$100 ton for a 15 SEER rated system.

 

The maximum rebate is $500 per home or business. Rebates will be in the form of cash and billing credit. One half (50%) of the rebate shall be paid upon the inspection of the HVAC installation. The remaining half (50%) of the rebate will be given as two billing credits to the occupant of the home. The billing credits shall be spread evenly over the next two (2) months of billing. All rebates will be paid to the property owner .

 

Geothermal Heat Pumps

 

Tipmont REMC will provide $100 per ton toward Geothermal HVAC systems with a maximum of $500 per home or business. The rebate will also be offered for a replacement unit with up to $500 per home or apartment. 

 

The $100 dealer-training rebate for geothermal installations has been discontinued.

 

The rebate

The homeowner is considered the person(s) whose name is on the Tipmont REMC electric bill. In cases of a home being constructed by a building contractor who is building a spec home, the rebate can go to the builder.  The home must be completed and ready for occupancy. If the home is being built for someone on contract, the rebate will go to the person who is having the home built. Tipmont REMC shall give the rebate following an inspection. In a rental home or apartments, the rebates shall go to the landlord/owner.

 

Minimum Standards

 

The HVAC system return air ducts must be insulated to a minimum of R-19 if they are located within an unheated portion of the home.

 

 

Limitations

 

The rebate will only be for permanent year round residences. Summer homes or mobile homes (trailers) with the wheels still attached do not qualify as a permanent home. The HVAC system must be new and be in proper working condition.
