Operation Round Up
No, this has nothing to do with ropin' or ridin’. It’s a program currently being used by nearly 100 electric cooperatives throughout the US making a valuable contribution to the quality of life for each of the communities served by those cooperatives.

Operation Round Up is pretty simple. Each participating customer's bill is rounded up to the nearest whole dollar, and those monies are placed in a fund that will be used to assist community organizations. On the average, each participating customer contributes about $6 per year into this fund. The monies contributed are tax deductible. While we would hope that all Tipmont customers would wish to be involved in this program, we recognize there may be a few customers who would choose not to participate. Each customer has been given the opportunity to decline participation in Operation Roundup. If you wish to decline participation, simply call us on our toll free 800.726.3953 or e-mail us and we will not round-up your bill.

Administration..........

The funds of Operation Round Up are not administered by the Tipmont Board of Directors, it is administered by a Board of Trustees made up of Tipmont members who are appointed by Tipmont's Board of Directors. The people who serve on the Board of Trustees have been involved in the community and have substantial experience with organizations that have a history of helping people in our communities. We will keep you informed through our monthly newsletter and this web page whenever monies are distributed from the funds.    This is a tremendous opportunity for Tipmont members, at very little cost to the individual member, to make a real impact within our communities. And, you can do this, on the average, for only $6 per year - about the price of one Friday night movie theater ticket.

Getting up to speed..........

Operation Round Up is now in full swing helping people in Tipmont’s multi-county service area. Nancy Myers serves as the liaison between Tipmont and the Roundup trust board. The trust board meets quarterly on the third Monday of January, April, July and October to discuss all applications received by the first Monday of the quarter. Each application is carefully considered to be sure it meets the criteria established in the bylaws.

Organizations receiving funding to date..........

These grants were made possible by the generosity of Tipmont REMC members who participate in Operation Round Up. We look forward to many more opportunities to help the people in our service territory. If you would like to take part in this worthwhile program or know of a not-for-profit community organization in our area that needs help with a special project, contact Nancy Myers at 800.726.3953 or e-mail.
